GIBSON GLASS

Although paperweights were a sideline for Gibson Glass (1970s-2006), they made some great crimp roses. The owner of the company, Reverend Charles Gibson [1933-2015], had a particular fondness for them, which led to the production of stunning crimp rose weights, although they are quite scarce.

PW3018. Charles Gibson Magnum Pink, White, and Cranberry Crimp Rose Museum Piece.

This large pedestal crimp rose is signed Charles Gibson 1990. It’s a beautiful piece – the petals have much cranberry translucence. It is faceted in four places to allow multiple views of the rose and has a rare earth coating on the exterior which lends something of a rainbow sheen. I was told by the person I got this from: “We bought this from one of Mr. Gibson’s daughters who told us there are three of these – he made one for each daughter.”  Condition is excellent with a light rub or two that are hard to find. Diameter: 3 15/16 inches; height: 5 11/16 inches; three pounds and three ounces.  $200
