Museum Piece. This is a paperweight that, in my opinion, could be in a museum paperweight collection, such as The Bergstrom-Mahler museum or The Art Institute of Chicago. This may be because it is historically significant, a prime example of the art, or both. I recently visited the Rubloff Collection of Paperweights in Chicago. It’s nicely done and informative, however, I believe if I had every paperweight I have sold over the years in addition to my current inventory, it would make a better collection. (Mr. Rubloff got a $4.5 million tax deduction.) Every piece I sell is museum quality so I don’t always note it.

Pristine or Perfect: This paperweight is brand new condition with no wear, as you might buy off the shelf of a retail shop.

Excellent: In excellent overall condition with no discernible chips, scratches, cracks, spalls, or other damage. It may show slight shelf wear. The older it is the more minor issues it will have. If more than 20 years old, expect a faint scratch or two. Its condition is in the top small percentage for its age.

Extra Fine: This weight is in exceptionally nice condition for its age even though it has some wear. Expect some minimal shelf wear. The older it is the more minor issues it will have. If more than 20 years old, expect a few light scratches and/or tiny nicks commensurate with age.

Fine: This weight is in very nice condition for its age even though it has some wear. No major issues. It has no discernible chips, scratches, cracks, spalls, or other damage, unless noted, but you should expect light scratches and minor nicks —more if older — as noted or depicted photographically.

Postage and handling for most paperweights will be $15 US for the first and $5 US for additional paperweights in the same order for deliveries in the United States. This is for priority mail with tracking. Postage will be based on actual cost for paperweights that weigh more than two pounds. Insurance will be $2 for the first $100 of value and $1.50 for each $100 of value thereafter. If you do not get insurance, you are responsible for any damage or loss. All paperweights will be well packed and padded. I have mailed more than 1000 paperweights and never had one lost or damaged.
